Paintings of kathakali faces

Paintings of kathakali faces

Kathakali is a stylized classical Indian dance-drama noted for the attractive make-up of characters, elaborate costumes, detailed gestures and well-defined body movements presented in tune with the anchor playback music and complementary percussion. It originated in the country's present day state of Kerala during the 17th century and has developed over the years with improved looks, refined gestures and added themes besides more ornate singing and precise drumming.

"The Kathakali Man is the most beautiful of men. Because his body is his soul."
Arundhati Roy quoted in Roni Natov (6 December 2012).

Hope  you like my paintings of kathakali faces . It is original hand drawn on canvas with acrylic colors

My First Mural Painting --KRISHNA

My First Mural Painting --KRISHNA

Krishna.. My childhood friend, my hero and everything. A srikrishna temple is situated very near to my home, 'Thiruvachira Sreekrishna kshethram'. It was a routine for us to go and visit the temple every morning. What more to say...I am a true krishna bakth.
I was supposed to join my daughter for the drawing lessons and I stucked there and started learning.
There was already two ladies learning mural painting .
I was really excited as my first mural Painting Starts with the picture of  Krishna it self .First I was given a picture and asked to measure its length and breadth.
The base picture is this

I measured its length and width and marked one inch lines horizhontal and vertical. I brought a big chart paper and drawn vertical and horizontal lines in two inch gap in that, so that while drawing the picutre it will be double of the base picture. Like wise, when we draw lines with 3 inch gap, the picture drwan will be thrice from the base picture.

After that I drawn the picture , as in the base picture ,looking sharply in each boxes of the base picture. Then copied the picture from the chart paper to the tracing paper. After that 50X60 size camlin canvas and yellow carbon paper brought. Copied the sketch to the canvas .It is not much clear.

I Started marking the outline with cripsom red of the acrylic color with size 0 painting brush. The output was

Then Started giving colors. First painted with the color oso yellow mixed gently with water and made it very light. whereever blue color is required in krishas body, there I omitted painting osho yellow, since when painting blue over osho yellow it will not be good. The result is

Then Started coloring with the acrylic paints and the result is

Hope you enjoyed. I was really excited after completing this work. Got so many good comments and decided to continue this art.
